Full Service Junk Removal vs Dumpster Rental in Cleveland, OH

Hi, my name is Chris Blumfeldt, and I am the owner of Ohio Junk Force.  We are a full-service junk removal company.  Today I want to discuss the difference between a full-service junk removal company and the renting of a dumpster.

To start this off let’s discuss what is full-service junk removal. A full-service junk removal company removes your unwanted items (junk) for you.  These items could be household items such as furniture, appliances, old equipment, pianos, miscellaneous garbage. Etc.  It could also be such things as constructions waste, dirt, concrete, wood chips or yard waste.  Basically, full-service junk removal can take care of just about any type of junk or waste that is not considered hazardous and can be moved by two people.  A full-service junk removal company does all the work.  They load, sort and dispose of your unwanted items for you.  Often, junk removal companies can find a home for some nicer items, or even recycle such things as metal.  There is no work on your part other than pointing out what you want removed.  Junk companies are often in and out of your home or office quickly making the whole experience quick and painless for you.  Additionally, junk removal companies only charges for the amount of stuff they take.

Renting a dumpster is different.  Renting a dumpster involves estimating how much stuff you need to dispose.  Do you have 10 yards of waste? 20 yards? 30 yards? 40yards or more?  When and if you can determine that you call a dumpster company and they deliver a large steel dumpster and place it in your yard or on your driveway.  Once you have the dumpster, you do all the work of loading the dumpster.  Maybe you bribe some friends or family to come over and help you load your items, or maybe, heaven forbid, you do all the work yourself.  When the dumpster is full you call the dumpster company and tell them to come and pick up the dumpster.  You pay the full price for the dumpster even if you only fill it ¾ of the way up.

Now the main differences between full-service junk removal and a dumpster should be little more apparent.

  1. A junk removal company does all the work vs a dumpster rental where you do all the work.
  2. A junk removal company does some recycling where everything in a dumpster goes to the landfill.
  3. You only pay for the amount of stuff you have removed by a junk removal company, whereas in a dumpster rental you pay the full price of the dumpster even if you do not fill it up.
  4. Full-service junk removal companies are in and our quickly, you do not need a dumpster sitting in your yard or driveway for a week or more taking up space or damaging your driveway.
  5. Lastly, and we have not discussed this yet, is price.  Dumpsters are typically less than the cost of junk removal, but often not by much.  Today as I speak the cost of a 10-yard dumpster in my area ranges from $300 to $500 with the mean of $400.  The cost for our full-service junk removal of 10-yards is $420.  If you were to pay the median price of $400, and compare that to our full-service price of $420, you would see that you would only pay $20 more for full-service junk removal than doing all the work yourself.  I think paying an extra $20 instead and have someone else do all the work fast is a good deal!  Now if you ended up paying $500 for the dumpster instead of $420 for a junk removal company, you just paid $80 more and did ALL the hard work yourself.

Well, that was my quick explanation on the differences between full service junk removal vs renting a dumpster.  Thanks for listening, God Bless and have a great day!
