How Is Junk Removal Priced?
When people land on our FAQ page, this is one of the first things they want to know — “How do you charge for junk removal?”
At Ohio Junk Force, we want junk removal pricing to be simple and transparent, here are the various ways we charge for junk removal:
1. Normal Household Items Are Priced by Volume
Most junk removal companies never explain this, so here’s the easy version:
We charge based on how much space your items take up in our truck. That’s it. No complicated formulas. No guessing games.
Our trucks hold 400 cubic feet of junk (15 yards) — the volume of eight three-seater couches, or about 16 washing machines.
We offer 13 different volume-based price points, ranging from a single-item pickup to a full truckload. This keeps pricing fair because:
- 20 small household items may take up less space than
- one oversized sectional sofa
And with volume-based junk removal pricing…
You only pay for the space you use!
(If you were to rent a dumpster yourself, you’d pay for the entire dumpster even if you only filled half!)

The bottom line:
Volume-based junk removal is the fairest pricing model in the industry.
2. When Surcharges Apply (Rare, But Sometimes Necessary)
Surcharges are not common — in fact, we work hard to avoid them — but occasionally a job requires significantly more labor than usual.
Examples include:
Extensive Bagging
If small items or loose debris must be bagged before we can haul it, additional labor time may be required.
Long Carry Distances
Such as:
- A 10th-floor apartment where everything must go down an elevator
- Items located at the far end of a large property
- Tight staircases requiring items to be disassembled
These scenarios take extra manpower and time, so there may be a labor charge added in addition to your volume price.
Again — this is not the norm. Our goal is always to keep costs predictable and transparent.
3. Special Items That Are Not Priced by Volume
Some items require unique pricing due to safety concerns, weight, or handling requirements.
Piano Removal
Pianos can weigh anywhere from 200 to 1,000 pounds, making them dangerous and extremely difficult to remove safely.
They have their own fixed pricing, based on size and location.
Piano Removal Pricing
Upright or grand, see what it costs to demo and haul away your piano safely.
Tire Disposal
Tires must be taken to licensed recycling facilities, which charge fees.
For this reason, tires have a small additional cost.
What We Don’t Charge Extra For
Unlike many junk hauling companies, we do NOT charge extra for:
- Electronics
- Refrigerators
- Freezers
Why?
Because there’s no good reason to. We believe in fair pricing, not taking advantage of customers.
4. Light Demolition Services (Priced Separately)
Ohio Junk Force also performs light demolition, including:
- Shed demolition
- Hot tub removal
- Garage tear-downs
- Deck demolition
- Fence removal
These projects require both demolition labor + junk hauling, so they are priced differently than regular junk removal.
We complete so many demolitions that we’ve created standard pricing for most situations.
